What is a custom tattoo?
A custom tattoo is a one-of-a-kind piece of body art that an artist designs specifically for an individual client. Rather than picking a pre-made design or flash art off the wall, the client collaborates with the tattoo artist to create a personalized design that aligns with their unique vision and style preferences. The custom tattoo process typically starts with a consultation, where the client shares their tattoo idea and any reference images with the artist. The artist then takes this input and creates a bespoke design tailored to the client. This allows for a tattoo with special meaning to the individual and showcases the artist’s particular style. At ArtHouse Tattoo, our skilled artists specialize in custom tattoo design across various styles, including Japanese, blackwork, American traditional, illustrative, and more. We take pride in crafting distinctive tattoos that our clients can cherish as works of art on their skin. Reach out to us to start bringing your custom tattoo vision to life.

What is a cover-up tattoo service?
A cover-up tattoo service is when a tattoo artist works with a client to create a new custom tattoo design that incorporates, disguises, or completely conceals an existing unwanted tattoo. There are many reasons someone may seek out a cover-up, such as being dissatisfied with the original tattoo, the tattoo not aging well, or simply outgrowing the style or meaning of the ink. At ArtHouse Tattoo, we can evaluate your existing tattoo and collaborate with you to strategize the best approach for a cover-up. This could involve redesigning and transforming the original tattoo into a new artistic creation or completely masking it with a new design. Factors like the original tattoo’s size, colors, and placement will help determine what’s possible for a cover-up. Here is our blog post with a guide on all you need to know about cover-up tattoos.
What aftercare do you recommend after getting a tattoo?
Proper aftercare ensures your new tattoo heals beautifully and maintains its vibrancy. At ArtHouse Tattoo, we provide detailed instructions to help guide you through the aftercare process.
For the first day, we recommend leaving the bandage your artist applied on for 2-12 hours, depending on the size and placement of your tattoo. After removing the bandage, gently wash the tattoo with clean hands using fragrance-free soap and warm water. Allow it to air dry, or pat it dry with a clean towel. Then, apply a thin layer of the provided aftercare ointment or an unscented, hypoallergenic moisturizer. For the following 3-6 days, continue gently cleansing your tattoo 1-3 times a day and applying a thin layer of moisturizer. Avoid soaking the tattoo, wearing restrictive clothing over it, or exposing it to direct sunlight. You may notice some peeling, flaking, and itching during the healing process, but it’s important not to pick or scratch the tattoo. After 3-6 days, moisturize 1-2 times daily for 1-2 weeks or until your tattoo is fully healed. Continue protecting it from the sun even after healing by applying sunscreen when needed.
If you have any concerns during the healing process, please get in touch with us. We’re always happy to guide you to ensure the best possible healing experience and tattoo results. Here is our official guide to tattoo aftercare.
